KINDERGARTEN

Welcome to Nativity's full day kindergarten!  We are very proud to offer a regular day of school for all of our kindergarten students!  The full day helps the children learn much more and retain much more knowledge during their important early formative years.

Our kindergarten teacher sends home a weekly newsletter to keep families informed of what is going on in our classroom.  There is usually much lively, learning activity to report!

Kindergarten Kaleidoscope

March 5, 2010

I hope to see many of you at the spaghetti dinner and the winter carnival tomorrow evening.  I will be selling tickets with Mrs. Lenzo for the first hour.  Tickets are 50 cents each and most of the games in the rooms cost 2 tickets. Just coming to see the decorated rooms is a treat in itself.  We will have popcorn and karaoke in our room, I think. If you need service hours, contact Mrs. Villa, who is our room chairperson.  Hopefully, you have been receiving emails from her.

The new program in Scrip starts today with the green envelopes in the notebooks.  You received your updated service hours and scrip profit obligations sheets today.  Remember you need to have 25 service hours done by May 15th or you will be billed $25 for each hour not done. Also, if you do not have $250 in Scrip profit by May 15th, you will be billed for the remaining amount.  Then Mrs. Russell will send out bills which must be paid by the last day of school.  If it is not paid by then, it will be added to your next year’s tuition.  If you are not returning, then it will be sent to a collections agency and school records will not be sent to your child’s next school.

In reading we will review the letter Uu and Kk and the sight words little, said, here and was.  On Friday we will take the Unit 8 test. In Math we will start Chapter 7 on addition readiness.  In learning centers we listened to If You Give a Moose a Muffin, completed a dot-to-dot Cat in the Hat, wrote and drew about how seeds get in the ground, identified foods by taste, made a Grinch mask and made and played with Oobleck (the green stuff in the baggies). On Dr. Seuss’ birthday, we also made Cat in the Hat hats, read Horton Hears a Who and made elephant ears, saw the Green Eggs and Ham video and tasted green scrambled eggs.

On St. Patrick’s Day, we will be making pretzels and shamrock shakes, reading St. Patrick’s Day books, and watching the St. Patrick’s video with our eighth grade buddies.  I would like you all to send in $1 to pay for the supplies by next Friday.  Thanks.

Also, all the kindergarteners had their vision checked this week.  Next week they will have their hearing checked.  Lastly, most of the children have returned their toothbrushing charts from February.  It was not required, but if you still have it, please send it in on Monday. Don’t forget that you can always contact me at kdg@nativitystars.info.

Until next week,

Mrs. Vicki Crockett
